Description
The denizens of Alyria once did not have the inherent magical wherewithal to identify all the properties of items they possessed. They were required to have the knowledge to cast the spell 'identify' or purchase scrolls to use on their newfound treasures. A magical surge some years ago provided the people of Alyria with the ability to see deeply into almost any item in the world and know any properties it possesses, so this spell is no longer used. The spell still crops up in some spellbooks and scrolls of it can still be found in locations around Alyria.
Some extraordinarily mysterious items remain, but even successful castings of the 'identify' spell have failed to reveal any additional information about these illusive items.
