ITEM ATTRIBUTES

Description

Amongst the thousands of objects you will encounter in Alyria, be they weapons, armor or magical artifacts, there are a large number of 'attributes' that determine the core nature of the item in question, deciding in what ways it can be obtained and made use of by a player. These are also called 'object flags' or 'item attributes', but they all reference the same things.

When you look at an item, you will see something similar to the following:

Item 'a phoenix feather quill' is type writing-instrument, alignment 500, made of organic, has keywords 'quill phoenix feather'. This item weighs 0 stones and 4 pebbles, and is valued at 1,125 gp. This level 45 item has the attributes: identified permanent wont-fuse will-float no-steal A phoenix feather quill is in excellent condition. There are about 1 ounces of ink remaining. *This item may be repaired 6 more times. This quill has been crafted from a large, red, phoenix feather that seems to flow through shades of red as if it were a flame. Despite its fiery appearance, the feather is cool to the touch and is not giving off any heat. The quill appears to have been enchanted to provide an endless amount of red-tinted ink, for use in writing letters and books.

In this example, the attributes of the item are identified as "identified permanent wont-fuse will-float no-steal". Descriptions of the ways each of these attributes modifies how the item is used or obtained, are given below.

These attributes vary in occurrence, some being common to a large number of objects, serving a generally useful purpose. Others perform very specific functions and are unlikely to be encountered very often.

These flags include:

• trap — has been rigged as a trap
• atm — can be used to access an Adventurer's main bank account
• nouncurse — curses such as no-drop and no-remove cannot be dispelled
• durable — significantly reduces how much damage the item takes
• vampire-bane — the item's wearer cannot be vampirically attacked
• nodecay — the item will not take normal damage through use
• magic-resistant — cannot have magic cast upon it.
• vanish-death — will disappear once the Adventurer carrying it dies
• sustain-life — (obsolete)
• hidden — is hidden in a room
• buried — is buried in a room
• nochange — cannot be restrung
• virtual — normally appears in the Wilds
• no-dispel — affects on it cannot
• transport — can be sat upon and ridden, like a magic carpet
• no-save — will disappear upon logout
• will-float — floats
• no-rent — cannot be stored in a locker
• no-steal — cannot be stolen
• locker — can be used to access an Adventurer's Rune locker
• save-location — will persist on the floor through a reboot
• no-npc — cannot be given to an NPC
• spirit — can be worn while dead
• vanish-if-dropped — vanishes if dropped
• no-identify — cannot be identified
• nomail — cannot be mailed
• enforce-level — will disappear if its Adventurer carrier's level is lower than its
• reset — will reset certain aspects of itself upon next login
• invis — is invisible
• nodrop — cannot be dropped without its being uncursed
• noremove — cannot be removed without its being uncursed
• permanent — will not be consumed normally
• rot-death — will start quickly rotting when its carrier dies
• throwable — can be 'throw'n
• broken — cannot be equipped or used
• explode — will explode, either by elemental affects or when thrown
• no-sac — cannot be sacrificed
• no-auction — cannot be auctioned
• weight-reducer — any items inside of this container weigh nothing
