Synopsis
backstab <victim>
Description
Backstab is the favored attack of thieves, murderers, and other rogues. It can be used with any dagger, hook or other weapon with the piercing attribute. The damage inflicted by a backstab is (((weapon's damage * 14) * (personality + backstab%)) / 100) + damage-backstab. Backstabbing cannot be done unless one is able to sneak up behind one's opponent. Therefore backstabbing after a fight has begun is quite impossible, as is backstabbing an opponent below half health. A healthy opponent, unlabored by any infirmities, will be even more surprised, taking an additional 50% damage. Backstabbing while successfully hidden will give the rogue a +2 bonus to accuracy for that attack. If the attack is successful, then the rogue will gain a lingering after-effect called 'cunning strike', which provides an ongoing +2 accuracy boost for up to 1 minute.
