I-MAIL POST OFFICES

Description

The MAIL command allows you to send and receive online Alyrian mail (called I-MAIL, for I-MOTION MAIL SYSTEM). Mail can be a document (such as a personal letter), or an item (such as a magic sword).

Mail can be picked up at any post office in the world of Alyria; these are most commonly located in major townes and cities.

To send a message to another player, you must obtain the following items:

a pen of some sort to write with (such as a quill pen) a piece of parchment a postage stamp

Usually, these items may be acquired at any post office. Prices of postage stamps and other accessories will range depending on location.

Once you have obtained these three items, you may WRITE on the page of parchment. This will put you in the I-MAIL editor (type '/h' for help from within the I-MAIL editor). When complete, type '/s' to save your email, then answer the prompt question.

The MAIL command is then used to send the document to the player in question. If you AND the receiving player have the AUTOMAIL flag set (see HELP SET), they will, in addition to the parchment within the game, receive an Internet e-mail containing the information inscribed upon the parchment. This is basically a private relay system - you can't find out their email address unless they tell it to you, and vice versa.

Most items can be sent through the I-MAIL system; obvious things like decaying merchandise, cursed items, or explosives will not be permitted.

To pick up mail someone has sent you, you must visit the local post office and use the MAIL RECEIVE (or MAIL GET) command. Most postmasters will let you know whether or not you have mail when you enter the post office, and some will even just hand it to you.

The AUCTION system will also use the I-MAIL system, sending the items received through auction through I-MAIL.

Unreceived mail is kept for 90 days before being automatically deleted by the I-MAIL system.
