Description
Xaventry is a fortified town nestled deep within an old growth forest, surrounded by various trees that serve as a microcosm of the Fraou forest beyond. Despite the reputation of the nearby marshlands for swallowing forests whole, the trees in Xaventry stand healthy and strong, though the ground around them has dropped considerably due to absorbing the surrounding moisture. The town is home to several temples dedicated to the highest powers, including Maradas, Ithrilis, Dira, Vandyne, and Gath. Each temple is surrounded by the homes and hovels of their respective worshippers and attendees, with a High Priestess residing within each temple to guide any pious adventurers seeking the deeper secrets of their beliefs. The southern entrance of Xaventry is the main route for adventurers and traders, with the entrance to the town guarded by a barracks made of fortified wood in case of a siege. The town is host to some of the most beautiful and interesting buildings in Alyria, including the Hall of Clans and the Towne Hall. The Hall of Clans features tapestries and coats of armor from different clans, while the Great Court encircles a large pond and is surrounded by various rooms used for forums and social purposes. The Towne Hall, made of marble and adorned with intricate scrollwork on its pillars and stone walkways, is where Lady Undya presides over court to decide the fates of those who break her law. At the center of town is the Fountain of Life, which further accentuates the natural beauty of the forest and is presided over by Lady Undya herself, who is renowned for her unmatched fairness and beauty. Xaventry is a great place to start or end any adventure, with the old dusty trail leaing to herb picking and supplies on the way.
