Description
These weapons consist of a long staff with a sharp point on one end, and are used for thrusting and piercing. While they can be awkward in the hands of an amateur or in an enclosed space, spears are still quite deadly.
Spears can be used as a throwing weapon, or as a melee combat weapon. Spears designed for melee combat usually have barbed heads, making them very difficult to remove when sunk into shields. Spears can also be used similarly to a staff, to block or sweep an opponent.
Throwing spears are shorter, lighter versions of normal spears, designed with spiked heads similar to a large arrow. The simplest type of throwing spear consists of a thin wooden pole with a sharpened end.
